Mark Hamill Teaming Up With Streamer Ninja To Show Off New Star Wars Content In 'Fortnite'

KEY POINTS
  • Mark Hamill teaming up with Ninja to show off new Star Wars-themed "Fortnite" content
  • Latest in the Xbox Sessions video series
  • New content coming to "Fortnite" include new skins and gear base on "Rise of Skywalker"
  • "Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill announced Wednesday he will be teaming with the world's biggest video game streamer to debut the new Star Wars content in "Fortnite."

Hamill made the announcement in a video on his Twitter account, alongside famed streamer Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja. The stream will be taking place on Dec. 19 to show off the new "Rise of Skywalker" content Epic Games is bringing into the game to celebrate the end of the Skywalker Saga.

The stream is the latest in Microsoft's ongoing Xbox Sessions live streams featuring celebrities playing some of the newest games available on Xbox.

The stream and content come on the heels of the Star Wars event hosted over the weekend, dropping in content themed after the new trilogy. Players can run around as Rey or Finn with the new skins available or swap out their pickaxes for lightsabers. Epic Games also hosted a clip premiere in the Risky Reels section of "Fortnite's" world for fans to enjoy.

A stream like this is not new territory for Ninja, either. He has become known for his celebrity team-ups, stemming from his now famed stream in "Fortnite" alongside rapper Drake in 2018. This continued into the "Fortnite" pro-ams that saw Ninja team up with musician Marshmello later in 2018.

It's also the latest new game content to drop from Star Wars ahead of the release of "Rise of Skywalker." "Star Wars: Battlefront II" is getting new content based on the film in its winter update, along with the digital release of the "Celebration Edition." "Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order" also released to critical praise in November, though EA hasn't released official sales figures of the game.
